Why it suits older adults

Start seated if you need to

Fully seated and chair-supported workouts, so you can build strength without getting down on the floor or worrying about balance.

Safety built into your plan

A short health check asks about knees, back, balance, falls and conditions, then quietly removes moves that are not right for you, such as jumping or deep floor work.

An easier option for every move

If a move feels too hard on the day, swap it for a gentler version in one tap.

Real trainers and a calm voice coach

Clear videos of real trainers show each move, and a voice coach talks you through it, so you can keep your eyes off the small screen.

Short sessions, your days

Sessions of 10–30 minutes on the days you choose, with gentle reminders if you want them.

Grows with you

When the chair feels easy, your plan adds standing strength, walking and more, and only moves you up when you are ready.

Easy to read

Works with larger text sizes and VoiceOver, with big buttons and clear words.

How much exercise do seniors need?

The World Health Organization recommends that adults aged 65 and over aim for 150–300 minutes of moderate activity a week, muscle-strengthening activities on at least two days, and varied activities that focus on balance and strength on three or more days to help prevent falls. Short sessions count. Train at Home plans are built around these guidelines and start well below them if you are new to exercise.

Questions

What is the best workout app for seniors?

The best app is one that starts at your level, keeps you safe and that you enjoy using. Look for seated and standing options, an easier version of every move, clear videos, short sessions and a plan that progresses slowly. Train at Home was built around exactly those things for adults of any age.

Is Train at Home good for people in their 70s and 80s?

Yes. Plans can start fully seated, the health check removes unsuitable moves, and every exercise has an easier option. As with any exercise programme, check with your doctor first if you have a health condition.

Do I need to get down on the floor?

No. You can choose chair and standing workouts only. Fully seated plans never ask you to get down on the floor.

Do I need any equipment?

Only a sturdy chair without wheels. Light dumbbells, water bottles or a resistance band are optional.

Is it free?

Train at Home is free to download and includes free workouts. Train at Home Plus is an optional subscription that unlocks every plan and workout; the price for your country is shown in the app before you buy.

Does it work with Apple Health and Apple Watch?

Yes, if you choose to connect it. Your steps and walks from Apple Watch count toward your streak, and finished workouts are saved to Apple Health. Your health data stays on your iPhone.

Train at Home is a fitness app, not a medical device. Check with your doctor before starting a new exercise programme.
